Customizing Your Cake

Special designs make for memorable occasions. I enjoy crafting creative and unique cakes that capture something that is special to the cake recipient — a favorite object, scene, moment, or memory that touches the heart, or builds excitement around a special event. All of my cakes are individually crafted, and I strive to never make the same cake twice.

I offer a variety of cake customization options, such as hand-painted buttercream designs, sculpted or hand-drawn decorations, sugar flowers, fresh flowers, gold leaf accents, chocolate covered strawberries, and more.

Specific or trendy cake styles may also be requested, such as geode cakes, fault-line cakes, surprise cakes, shag cakes, cartoon cakes, vintage style cakes, and so much more. I also offer handwritten calligraphy cake toppers, made by local artist Skyblue Pink Calligraphy.

Whatever your vision, I would love to help bring your idea to life! When you fill out your Cake Order Form, be sure to specify whether you would like a custom design.

Allergens & Free-From Baking

A vegan and gluten-free-friendly wedding cake.

Gluten Free-Friendly options

Many of our cakes can be made without gluten-containing ingredients, and I call these “gluten-free-friendly” or “made without gluten.” They are just as delicious as our normal cakes! However, while I make every effort to keep the gluten-free-friendly cakes away from all traces of gluten, please be aware that I do not work in a certified gluten free kitchen. Therefore, there is always a risk of trace amounts of gluten present in the kitchen. For people with serious allergies, by purchasing and/or consuming a gluten-free-friendly cake, you do so at your own assumed risk. Please note there is a small additional fee for cakes made without gluten, due to the higher cost of gluten free flours.

Vegan, Dairy Free, and Egg Free options

Many of our cakes can be made vegan, dairy free, and/or egg free, and they are absolutely delicious! Plant-based butters and milks are used, and we ensure that no other animal ingredients are used (such as shellac, which is present in many brands of sprinkles). Please note there is a small additional fee for vegan cakes, due to the higher cost of ingredients.

Allergens

Upon placing your order, please let me know if you or anyone in your party has a food allergy.

Storing & Serving Guide

CAKE STORAGE

Many Layers Cakes may be stored in the refrigerator, securely covered in their cake box, for several days or up to a week. Once a cake is cut, you must ensure that any leftovers are fully covered in the fridge, so the cake does not dry out. Cakes, or pieces of cake, may also be frozen for up to a year or more — just be sure that the cake is fully wrapped in freezer-safe wrapping materials and/or freezer-safe storage containers.

HOW TO SERVE YOUR CAKE

Cakes are always at their best when served at room temperature. I repeat, cakes are at their best when served at room temperature! Got that? Good! :)

To bring a cake to room temperature, remove it from the refrigerator and place it on a countertop at least 1-2 hours prior to serving. The temperature in the room will determine how soft your cake gets — on very cold days, the cake will take longer to soften. On hotter days, less time is needed. Use your best judgement. Never put a buttercream cake in the sun, or outdoors in hot weather.
